Forensic Toxicology Awareness Course
This course has been developed with support from the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists (AAPT) and has been expanded to be suitable for HM Coroners, HM Coroners’ Officers and Pathologists involved in casework that has a toxicological aspect. The content will suit those with both a non-scientific and scientific background.
The course is provided by Dr Simon Elliott, Consultant Forensic Toxicologist and Managing Director of Alere Forensics based on 20 years of operational experience within clinical and forensic toxicology.
By the end of the course, delegates will have furthered their understanding of forensic toxicology to:
- Ensure the most meaningful case outcomes
- Understand the role toxicology has and how it is used to assist with current investigations
- Understand the most effective way to gain toxicological advice on future casework
- Be up to date with the current ‘designer drug’ environment they are working in
- Toxicological investigations
- Specimen selection & collection
- Drugs and poisons
- Results interpretation
- Toxicology reports & case evidence
- Toxicological analysis
This one day course is aimed at Pathologists, HM Coroners and Officers, Police Scientific Support Managers and Officers, Solicitors and Forensic Submission Staff who are interested or involved in casework that may have a toxicological aspect, such as drug facilitated sexual assaults (DFSA).

Bookings are only confirmed upon receipt of payment. Any confirmed booking cancelled in writing by delegates up to three weeks prior shall recieve a full refund. Thereafter, no claim for any refund shall be valid. If the course is cancelled by Alere Forensics, for whatever reason, delegates will receive a full refund.
